A Note from the Author.

Everything is turning on nowadays, and simultaneously turning up, all the way up, to eleven on a scale of one to ten. Make that one hundred and eleven. Our bodies are becoming more alive, our spirits are coming online. They were there all along, of course, but we are becoming more aware than ever.

We are feeling it all. We are remembering at the speed of light what we are really made of and what we are truly capable of creating and experiencing in these fantastic lives we’ve been gifted. Welcome to the infinite game of awakening more deeply into ourselves.

Awakening can feel like a real mess at times though, can’t it? If you’ve ever—in the span of one day or maybe even in an hour or two—experienced a new dimension of happiness or even bliss, a deeper peace than you’ve ever felt before, only to crash a few moments later into a pile of emotional muck, crying on the floor, remembering something from when you were five that’s finally now rearing its head to be processed out of your body: welcome, you’re in the right place.

It’s no small feat learning how to use these bodies and their infinite spirits driving behind the scenes. I wish I had a book when I was born about what life was going to entail; something, anything, to help guide me along the path of awakening so maybe . . . just maybe . . . there wouldn’t have had to be so many risks and experiments leading up into this moment.

It’s been hard, but it’s also been real. I suppose really living entails risks and experiments along the way—this whole thing feels like a grand experiment, and maybe it’s a sweet relief for us all to have permission to call it like it is and stop trying to be perfect and have everything figured out all the time. As if that were even possible, as if that were even our job.

Ascension is another term for awakening—perhaps you’ve heard it before amidst the spiritual jargon that’s been taking up more space in the mainstream lately? Ascension might seem to imply an upward and outward journey, into Heavenly realms or into perhaps another dimension. Definitely not anywhere on Earth. Plus, frequent references to ascension commonly show images of spirits ascending out of bodies into celestial planes—signifying a completion of the human journey, the game of life completely mastered.

But this journey we may identify as ascension is actually more inward [JS3] than anything else, at least in my experience. And the point isn’t to ascend outward and upward into the celestial plane but more so to be fully here, on Earth, in these bodies, as our true selves. Again, no small feat—but then again, we wouldn’t be here unless we were capable of accepting the divine invitation. We got this.

A friend once said, “Welcome to Earth, the greatest party in all the multiverse.” Amen. How might this be a perfect way we can relate to this whole journey, to ourselves and to all the other players in the game? The farther I go on this path of awakening, it really does feel like a game—perhaps even one of our own creation. The pages to follow are a series of invitations, inquiries and practices for us to relate to life, to ourselves, and to one another in new ways—as though we are all playing a game together.

Let’s ask:

How can it all be more filled with ease and even fun?

How can we feel more the ways we want to feel?

And, most of all, how can we enjoy the ride?

Ready to rock?

Let’s do this!
